Twitter Suspended The Babylon Bee Over Tweet Naming Transgender Rachel Levine "Man of the Year"
CEO Seth Dillon vowed that they would not be deleting anything.
On Sunday, satirical news site The Babylon Bee was suspended from Twitter for posting a tweet naming the openly transgender Assistant Secretary for Health Rachel Levin “Man of the Year.” This came just days after USA Today named Rachel Levin “Woman of the Year”.
After the suspension, The Babylon Bee’s CEO Seth Dillon tweeted his condemnation of Twitter’s decision and vowed not to delete the tweet. He explained that Twitter would restore the account in 12 hours following the deletion of the tweet in question. Dillon went on Tucker Carlson Tonight to explain the situation and his committed refusal to delete the joke tweet.
We're told our account will be restored in 12 hours, but the countdown won't begin until we delete the tweet that violates the Twitter Rules.
We're not deleting anything. Truth is not hate speech. If the cost of telling the truth is the loss of our Twitter account, then so be it.
.@SethDillon tells Tucker Carlson about The Babylon Bee's Twitter suspension, and their refusal to delete the joke.
