US Supreme Court June Round-Up
Things are heating up in America as the US Supreme Court issued multiple landmark rulings last month.
DOBBS V. JACKSON WOMEN’S HEALTH ORGANIZATION
This ruling overturned ROE v. WADE, allowing states to ban abortion. The court’s ruling was leaked as a draft opinion back in May.
NEW YORK STATE RIFLE & PISTOL ASSOCIATION v. BRUEN
This ruling confirmed America’s 2nd Amendment constitutional right to keep and bear arms outside the home. Additionally, the “good/proper cause” requirement for concealed carry weapons permits in New York and anywhere else in the United States is now unconstitutional.
KENNEDY V. BREMERTON SCHOOL DISTRICT
This ruling determined that the firing of Joseph Kennedy, a former high school football coach fired after leading postgame prayers on the 50-yard line, was a violation of the coach’s constitutional guarantees of free speech and freedom of religion.
CARSON V. MAKIN
This ruling prohibits the government from preventing religious schools from receiving public grants extended to other private schools.
WEST VIRGINIA V. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY(EPA)
With this ruling, the EPA must have clear congressional authority for it to regulate greenhouse gas emissions from power plants.
